NAWC TSD Awards Multipurpose Supporting Arms Trainer (MSAT)
TJ Inc is pleased to announce that the Multipurpose Supporting Arms Trainer (MSAT) Serial No. 2 was successfully installed and tested and was declared Ready for Training in August 2008 at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group – Pacific (EWTGPAC) in Coronado, CA. This contract was awarded to TJ Inc by Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) in November 2007. TJ Inc was tasked to incorporate design upgrades from the MSAT Serial No. 1 design under an Engineering Manufacturing Development effort. MSAT design uses a dome screen and three ultra high resolution SONY S105 projectors. The trainer has day, twilight, and night capability where students can use actual field equipment and night vision devices to detect targets and provide the Navy with a new high resolution and very stable training environment close to the real world and not possible with other multi-projector solutions. Based on this successful installation, TJ Inc was recently awarded a contract option to build MSAT Serial No. 3 for installation at the Naval Strike & Air Warfare Center (NSAWC) located at NAS Fallon, NV. This installation is scheduled to be complete in September 2009. The MSAT significantly advances the training capability, operational readiness, and tactical proficiency of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs), Forward Air Controllers (FACs), and Forward Observers (FOs)/Spotters personnel during day, dusk, and night operations. These personnel utilize training scenarios that require the placement of tactical ordnance on selected targets using approved Joint Close Air Support (JCAS) procedures and observed fire procedures for Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS), artillery and mortar fire to perform destruction, neutralization, suppression, illumination/coordinated illumination, interdiction, and harassment fire missions.
